Improved Graphics in Multibeam Editor Minimize

by Pat Sanders

HYSWEEP is the mulitbeam collection and processing module for HYPACK. Part of our development goals for 2009 was to improve the visualization in all of our programs. Mike Kalmbach of HYPACK has recently completed work on an update to MBMAX, our multibeam editor.

One of the big advantages in this version of MBMAX is the ability to display Stage 2 swath data and Stage 3 plan view images in OpenGL.

The improved graphics allow you to display twice as many sweeps as in the past, allowing you to run through your data faster.

Among the other improvements to MBMAX are the ability to have multiple levels of Undo. Previous versions only allowed you to Undo the last operation. MBMAX now tracks your editing and allows you to Undo as many previous steps as you wish.

There are several other modifications to MBMAX:

  • Ability to model deep water speed of sound corrections.
  • Improved RTK tide options
  • Improved ability to correct for induced heave under extreme pitch and roll
  • Output to GSF for mosaicing of Snippets and Average Backscatter in GEOCODER.
