Announcement and Technical Program

The U.S. Hydro 2011 Conference, sponsored by The Hydrographic Society of America, will be held at the Marriott Waterside Hotel in Tampa, Florida on April 25-28, 2011. U.S. Hydro 2011 is a continuation of the series of hydrographic conferences that alternate between the United States and Canada. This is the thirteenth U.S. Hydrographic conference and follows on the very successful U.S. Hydro 2009, held in Norfolk, Virginia.

In addition to the technical papers, the conference will feature an extensive series of Workshops, social program, Exhibition Hall, a Student Outreach program, and Closed Meetings.

The conference will include technical sessions and a poster session on the latest developments and applications in hydrographic surveying, multibeam and side scan sonar, data management, electronic charting, marine archaeology, and related topics.

Registration

The conference registration fee includes admission to technical sessions, workshops, exhibit hall, two hosted receptions (Monday evening Registration Icebreaker and Tuesday evening Exhibitor's Social), and the traditional Wednesday evening hosted social at Tampa’s Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City. One day registrations do not include the social functions.

Early Registration and payment is available until 5:00 pm EST on April 22, 2011. The Full/One day Conference registration for Members is $375/$175 and for Non-Members $500/ $250. Students of 'Member' organizations may register for $50 (excludes Wednesday Banquet).

A 'Member' is an Individual Member in The Hydrographic Society of America or The Canadian Hydrographic Association. Members of the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies (IFHS) receive a $50 discount from the Early Non‐ Member Full rate of $500. All New'Members' must be in good standing as of February 15, 2011.

There is no charge for accompanying guests. Extra social tickets for the Tuesday and Wednesday social events may be purchased for $25 and $50 respectively.

Registration is 100% refundable if notification is made by email to registration@ushydro2011.com by 5:00pm EST April 15, 2011.

ONLINE and Early Registration ends at 5:00pm EST, April 22, 2011.

On-site registration or credit card payment only will be increased by $50 for Full and $25 for One day.

There is NO 'Exhibits Only' category. All persons must register as one of the above categories to view the Exhibits!

Exhibits

The Exhibit Space, with 56 exhibitors of hydrographic survey equipment and services, is currently sold out! Use the email on the Exhibits Page to be see about being placed on the waiting list. Exhibits will be open from April 26 through April 28.

The Marriott Waterside has its own marina. On-the-water demonstrations by providers of hydrographic equipment and software are expected.

Accommodations and Travel

The Marriott Waterside March 27, 2011 date to receive the Group Rate is now past. The hotel will continue to accept reservations, at the Group Rate, on a space available basis by calling the hotel directly at 813-314-6606.

If the Marriott is unable to provide rooms from April 24-28 (checkout 29th) at the conference rate, the Westin Harbour Island (a short distance away) is holding a small block until April 10, subject to availability. Note free Internet is not included. You may visit the Westin on line by clicking here or by calling 1-800-937-8461 and asking for the "US Hydro" group rate.

Accompanying Persons

When delegates register they may also register Accompanying Persons at no additional cost.

The Accompanying Person will be issued a Conference Badge which will allow him/her into the Exhibition hall where they are welcome to partake of the Continental Breakfast and the Coffee Breaks. Badge holders may attend the Registration Ice Breaker Social on Monday Evening at 6:00 pm. You must register each Accompanying Person. The conference does not allow a visitor without a Badge in to the Exhibit Hall or the conference events.

This registration cannot be used for additional persons staffing an Exhibit Booth and does not include tickets for the Tuesday Exhibitor Social at 6:00 pm or Wednesday Buffet Social 7:00 pm which can be purchased for $25 and $50 respectively.

Accompanying Person’s Program for the Welcome at the Tampa Bay History Center and the Sarasota Tour may be purchased for $100.

Welcome at the Tampa Bay History Center and Columbia Café

Monday, April 25th, 3:30 pm. We will meet in the Lobby of the Marriott Waterside Hotel and walk a short distance to the Tampa History Center. The History Center holds a wealth of information about Tampa with movies on the origin of the region and the early native people, displays on past and present Tampa, and much more. Sarasota Tour of the Ringling Estate, Lunch & Shopping

Tuesday, April 26th, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. We will meet in the Lobby for a full day tour to Sarasota to visit the John and Mable Ringling estate. The estate venue includes a Docent tour of the three floored Ca’d’Zan Mansion, and a Docent tour of the Art Museum. There is time to walk to the Circus Museum, Learning Center, Visitors Center, the waterfront and to the rose gardens on this lovely estate.

We will then bus to downtown St. Armands Circle for lunch (included) at Café L’Europe. We will have time to visit the many specialty shops, all located in walking distance, as is the beautiful white beach.

The tour will return to the Hotel in time for the traditional Exhibitors Social with open bar (beer, wine and soft drinks) with hor d’oeuvres. Tickets can be purchased for $25.

Space is limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis, so it is important to register early so that badges can be prepared in advance and passed out before official registration is open.

On Wednesday and Thursday you will be able to relax by the pool or take advantage of the many attractions in the Tampa Bay area.
