Announcement and Technical Program
The U.S. Hydro 2013 Conference, presented by The Hydrographic Society of America,
will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, LA, on March 25-28, 2013. U.S.
Hydro 2013 is a continuation of the series of hydrographic conferences that alternate
between the United States and Canada. This is the fourteenth U.S. Hydrographic conference
and follows on the very successful U.S. Hydro 2011, held in Tampa, Florida.
In addition to the technical papers, the conference will feature an extensive series
of Workshops, social program, Exhibition
Hall, and a Student Outreach program.
The conference will include technical sessions and a poster session on the latest
developments and applications in hydrographic surveying, multibeam and side scan
sonar, data management, electronic charting, marine archaeology, and related topics.

The conference registration fee includes admission to technical sessions, workshops,
exhibit hall, two hosted receptions (Exhibitor's Happy Hour on Tuesday and Wednesday nights). One day registrations do
not include the social functions.
Early Registration and payment is available until 5:00 pm EST on March 15, 2013.
The Full/One day Conference registration for Members is $375/$175 and for Non-Members
$500/ $250. Students of 'Member' organizations may register for $50.
A 'Member' is an Individual Member in The Hydrographic Society of America, The
Canadian Hydrographic Association, Canadian Hydrographic Service, or the International Federation of Hydrographic
Societies (IFHS). All New 'Members' must be in good standing as of February 15, 2013.
There is no charge for accompanying guests. Spouses are welcome to attend the Tuesday
and Wednesdy Happy Hour in the Exhibit Hall.

There is NO 'Exhibits Only' category. All persons must register as one of the above
categories to view the Exhibits!

Accommodations and Travel
The New Orleans Sheraton has set aside a block of rooms for US HYDRO 2013
at a discounted group rate ($139 USD + taxes). To take adavantage of the discounted group rate, contact

When delegates register they may also register Accompanying Persons at no additional
The Accompanying Person will be issued a Conference Badge which will allow him/her
into the Exhibition hall where they are welcome to partake of the Continental Breakfast
and the Coffee Breaks. Badge holders may attend the Happy hours. You must register each Accompanying Person. The conference
does not allow a visitor without a Badge in to the Exhibit Hall or the conference
This registration cannot be used for additional persons staffing an Exhibit Booth.

The French Quarter Visitor Center shares the history and traditions of the city and the delta through exhibits and films. After touring the gift and bookstore we can continue to the French Quarter, have beignets and maybe a carriage ride.
Tuesday, March 26, 2013 (cost $70.00)
8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. – East Bank Plantation Tour. Guided tours of Destrehan Plantation, San Francisco Plantation and Houmas House. Lunch can be enjoyed at the café on the estate (lunch is on your own). After lunch, experience the southern splendor of this “Sugar Palace” when your tour guide leads you into 16 rooms filled with period antiques and Louisiana artwork.
Wednesday, March 27, 2013 (cost $45.00)
10:00 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Meet at the gateway to the Garden District, on the corner of Jackson and St. Charles Avenue. We stroll through a lush four square block area of this amazingly vibrant neighborhood, loaded with grand antebellum homes of Greek, Swiss and Egyptian Revival as well as Victorian, Baroque and Italianate architecuret. We thread a cohesive story that encompasses all that has happened here and the literary giants, sports titans, legendary tycoons and the men and women who changed the world we live in, before arriving at the most photographed of all New Orleans’ walled cemeteries. The Lafayette Cemetery #1. Here we will explain the unique above ground entombment culture of the Creoles.
We cross the street at 1:00 p.m. for lunch at the internationally renowned culinary Mecca known as Commander’s Palace. You will be treated to a four course feast in which we will break down their elements and explore the origins of Cajun and Creole cooking and the history of cocktail culture of New Orleans while sipping on a splendid array of martinis, tea, coffee or sodas. After dining in this glorious Victorian Mansion we offer a tour of Commander’s Palace.
